COVID-19 Recovery Plan
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the inequities in education. When I am elected, I will bring a creative, results-oriented, and solution-focused perspective to addressing racial biases in educational policies and practices. It is past time for our schools to have full-time nurses to ensure that our schools are not epicenters of deadly diseases.
I have experience and commitment to working with diverse stakeholders with respect, empathy, and professionalism during difficult situations. My dedication to listening to all stakeholders with integrity and compassion promotes leadership grounded in transparency. Our district had their struggles with communication as it relates to COVID-19 and as a School Board member I aim to fix this issue.
Our students have had eighteen months of interrupted learning and the scores released by the Colorado Department of Education have shown us a significant decrease overall statewide. Our students deserve School Board members that are ready to ask the tough questions and be prepared to brainstorm solutions to close this gap on day one!
Finally, we must begin taking measures as a district to prepare for another unintentional disruption to our education system. That is why I will work with district staff to create an ongoing crisis response plan, work with our unions to ensure continuity in pay, and collaborate with parents on how we can support their families through difficult transitions like we continue to experience throughout this pandemic.
